Wolf Eyes by Nicole-Marie-Walker Wolf Eyes by Nicole-Marie-Walker

I wanted to try some playing around with ink! I REALLY enjoyed my experimentation with the drawing inks and learned a lot. I'm going to go all out with my next piece.

This painting measures 9 x 12 inches painted on 140lb hot pressed watercolor paper with drawing inks.

Wonderful reference photo by woxys!

I've always wondered about inks, do you use them like watercolour?? This turned out so gorgeous! Funny how the colour going out from the corner of the eyes actually draws you into the detail of them :)

I use them the same way I use watercolors, but I think I use watercolors a little differently than they are traditionally used. I try not to layer with the ink *too* much because it starts to break down the paper. But I love splashing water onto it and letting it dry, I use a toothbrush and water bottle. It give neat textures and shapes. I also like adding watercolors on top of the ink.
